ADULT DAILY ACTIVITY PROGRAM
The Adult Daily Activity Program serves individuals who are in need of maximum support. This support focuses on the development of daily living skills from all major areas of adult life. The goal is to increase the individual's level of self-sufficiency and enhance the individual's independence. This program provides regular opportunities for participation in the community.
SOCIAL INTEGRATION PROGRAM
The Social Integration Program accommodates those individuals whose behaviors challenge and seriously jeopardize placement in Arc BRIDGES' Programs. The primary function of the program is to maximize conditions which enable participants to integrate into and function within non-isolated environments.
This program specializes in behavioral supports and enables its participants to:
- Develop trust in their environments.
- Recognize that they are valued.
- Reciprocate value back to others.
- Explore and master successful methods of communication and control.
- Reduce or replace behaviors which act as barriers to successful inclusion in other programs, the community, and life in general.
- Build meaningful relationships.
SENIOR ACTIVITIES FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM (SAIL)
The Senior Activities for Independent Living Program was organized in 1993 with the following goals:
- Assist individuals during retirement years to adapt to the aging process.
- Provide experiences and activities that enable senior citizens to be active participants in their community.
- Learn and maintain healthy lifestyles.
The array of services and supports provide compensation for age-related changes and stimulation for personal growth. This program serves Arc BRIDGES' clientele who are at least 55 years of age. Exceptions to age requirements are made for individuals with identified physiological needs.
The program is designed for individuals who have a decreased interest in work, tire easily, have a regression in cognitive abilities, and exhibit a need for increased peer interaction and leisure experiences.
SPICE
This program is designed to provide additional supports for clients. SPICE, "Supports Promoting Independence and Community Experience", is designed for those individuals who may need, in addition to work, to engage in other types of activities that will develop skills that enable them to function independently in various environments.
Program participants help plan the monthly calendar of activities and events. These may include music, work, sports, volunteer experiences, shopping, gardening, arts, crafts, exercise, dancing, games, or utilization of community resources and services. There are limitless areas to explore. The program is currently based at the South, East, West, and North centers.
BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT SERVICES
Arc BRIDGES' Behavior Management Services provides support to clients with challenging behaviors that jeopardize their success in the community and other settings. This support focuses on the development of a positively focused behavioral support plan designed to decrease inappropriate behaviors and replace them with appropriate behaviors. Continually focusing on what a person does wrong only encourages that person to continue to do wrong. Arc BRIDGES' positively focused behavior support plans focus on what a person does right, and encourages the continued growth of what is so very right about the people we serve. This task is accomplished through Gentle Teaching, Arc BRIDGES' philosophy behind the behavior management services. Gentle Teaching focuses on helping the individual feel safe, loved and engaged in all environments. In addition, by keeping close contact with the individual and his/her care providers, the Behavior Specialist can swiftly revise the behavior support plan to continue meeting the needs of the individual as he/she changes and grows.
